BAYAMBANG- One does not need to go to Hongkong (China) or in USA to feel the novelty of Disney characters. These characters could be seen at the town plaza of this town as it opened its “Paskong Disneyland sa Bayambang” on November 15.

Thousands of the townspeople and its nearby towns trooped at the town plaza to witness the opening of the “Disneyland” at 6:30 in the evening.

When the lights were on, people were mesmerized to see Mickey Mouse dancing with Belle at the beautiful castle, felt the cold breeze at Elsa’s tower with Elsa singing with the Lion King, Alladin with his magic carpet, and the train station and fountain area, which are influenced by Frozen and Little Mermaid, respectively.

At the center of “Disneyland” is the Animated Christmas Display depicting the birth of Christ Jesus and other Filipino traditions on Christmas season, giving joy to everyone’s hearts.

The “Paskong Disney” according to Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao is for “every child” and those who are “child-at-heart”.

“The local government did not spend any single centavo on the Christmas displays. If there be, these are for the security and medical services during the events. We are lucky to have the Kasama Kita sa Barangay Foundation, which shouldered the bulk of expenses,” Mayor Quiambao said during the press conference held before the grand opening of the “Disneyland.”

The “Disneyland” will be opened to visitors until January 10, 2020.

Supervising Tourism Officer Rafael Saygo said that many activities are scheduled during the Christmas season- “ Paskuhan sa Bayambang.”

Aside from the “Disney” inspired theme, Saygo said there will be a Parol Making Contest out of recyclable materials to be participated in by the 77 barangays (villages), which will be displayed on November 29, Christmas Carol Contest on December 6,  and Christmas Costume Contest on December 13 for schools, organizations and groups that will showcase  their creativity on fashion costumes inspired by the Disney characters.

There will be a Live Belen Contest on December 20 by the beneficiaries of 4Ps anchored on the town’s agricultural modernization program, and on December 7 the Bong-Bong (Bamboo Cannon) Designing Contest featuring bamboo and various products of the town.
