(more…)

MAGANES: Political bullying

It’s still three and a half months before the official campaign for local candidates and yet it seems that the political heat in Pangasinan has already reached its peak. Tarpaulins that have been installed by the Celeste camp in every municipality in the province are now being torn down or destroyed. The perpetrators could not be ascertained as of now. The reasons why they are doing that are also utterly incomprehensible. This is a political bullying.

The areas where these tarpaulins have been destroyed are in Bocboc West, Aguilar, Calasiao, Labrador, Tayug, Sto. Tomas and in Alcala. Apparently, this kind of action, perpetrated by whoever, is a sign of cowardice and a menace in a political fair play.

Amid these incidents, it’s good that Alaminos City Mayor and gubernatorial aspirant Arthur F. Celeste has maintained his cool and calm composure. Not even a nary of disgust could be discerned on his face. He is telling his supporters to be calm as well. Those tarpaulins, he said, can be replaced but retaliating with those perpetrators is an unhealthy move as it will just add more fire to the kindling heat of politics in the province. (more…)

Jolo Revilla lauds Pangasinan village heads

By Virgilio Sar. Maganes

ALAMINOS CITY- Movie actor and Cavite Vice Governor Ramon “Jolo” Revilla III lauded the more than 1,300 barangay captains of Pangasinan during the “Barangay Captains’ Day” held at the Don Leopoldo Sison Convention Center here on December 15.

The event was organized by the Provincial Federation of Liga ng Mga Barangay headed by its President Arth Bryan C. Celeste as a Christmas gathering among the village heads.

Revilla said that the barangay captains carry three functions in their villages- executive because they supervise the plans and programs, legislative because they head the Sangguniang Barangay and judiciary because they lead the Lupong Tagapamayapa to conciliate cases under the Katarungang Pambarangay (Barangay Justice System).

“ You are working hard. The national government will not be effective in the implementation of its programs and projects without you in the frontline of village services,” he said. (more…)
