Sison denies he reported fake ciggie factory

By Mortz C. Ortigoza

LINGAYEN – A former ally of Dong Calugay, the alleged owner of the multi – billions of pesos counterfeit cigarettes, denied he exposed the location of the covert factory to the authorities.

Congressional candidate and Pangasinan Second District Board Member Raul Sison told this newspaper he did not know about the half-a-billion pesos-factory with P2.5 billion  worth of fake Bureau of Internal Revenue’s stamps in Barangay Portic, Bugallon which he said was illegally imitating cigarette brands like Marlboro, Winston, Mighty, and others for two years already.

CALL FOR INQUIRY. Pangasinan Second District Board Member Raul Sison, a congressional bet, calls on the Senate to investigate the illegal cigarette factory in Barangay Portic, Bugallon, which  was busted recently by the National Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Internal Revenue.  Sison hastily called for a press conference after his privilege speech did not push through, when his fellow lawmakers scampered away when they saw him arrived at the Sanggunian Panlalawigan (provincial board) and sensed he had an expose’ about clandestine fake cigarette factory. At the foreground is a box of the spurious much toxic pack of Winston Cigarette and the counterfeit stamp of the BIR.

“Ahh, wala akong alam diyan wala wala akong alam diyan kasi iyan ang kuwento nila Kapitan (Edilberto Orduña) at nila (Bugallon former mayor) Mayor Ric (Orduña) matagal sila diyan. Noon, iyan nalalapitan ng tao. Recently, noong mga dalawang taon may nagpapastol ng baka kasi kinukuha lang mga damo iyan e. Talagang planta iyan e hindi sila magpalapit parang restricted area. Para bagang high voltage ang nakalagay,” he stressed in Tagalog. (more…)

No irrigation for seven agri towns in November – NIA

TO COMPLETE A PROJECT IS SIX MONTHS

By Yolanda Sotelo

URDANETA CITY –  Pangasinan farmers in several towns scrapped the dry crop season planting this year, and this could result in loss of 12,500 metric tons of palay.

This is because the National Irrigation Administration will  not be able to irrigate 2,500 hectares of rice land to construct a major intake gate of the Lower Agno River Irrigation System, a part of the P3.65 billion project.

“There will be no planting season starting this November 2018 up to June 2019 to make way for various construction along the main canals of the (Laris),” NIA Region I Manager Vicmundo said.

He explained that If a hectare can yield an average of five tons, then 2,500 hectares would not be producing 12,500 tons of palay, he said.

More than 4,000 farmers will be affected by the suspension of irrigation operations in the towns of  Rosales, Alcala, Sto Tomas and Bautista in Pangasinan,  San Manuel and Moncada inTarlac, and Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija.

Vicmundo said if the irrigation operations won’t be suspended, the project would be completed in more than three years, because the construction  would not be continuous.

But if the farmers won’t plant for a season, the project would be finished during that one season only.

Vicmundo said the suspension had been communicated with the affected farmers and they agreed not to plant for one season, as the irrigation project would be more efficient in the following years.

Instead of rice, they plan to plant mongo or corn which do not need much water.

Vicmundo said by improving the agency’s operations through higher irrigation efficiency, “we can expand our operations and increase cropping intensity or the number of times a certain portion of land.”

With the project, some areas covered by the system can be planted with rice thrice a year.

CORTEZ: Chief Justice Carandang?

ENGINE OF PHILIPPINE GROWTH.

“Agriculture holds considerable potential and prospects. It can be an engine of growth and broad-based development.” BSP Deputy Governor Chuchi Fonacier.

brando-maso

Opening the gates to agricultural financing will do more than just boost businesses. If accorded equal priority and sufficient resources, agriculture value chains can have a dramatic, transformative effect for our smallholder farmers – better access to credit, technologies and methods, production standards and efficiency, and bigger and ready markets – that amount to an improved quality of life for them and their communities,” sabi ni Fonacier.

Merong perang puedeng ipautang sa agrikultura.

“I am sure that you are all aware that the issue at hand is not the lack of loanable funds, so much as the need for banks to manage risks properly, and understand the sector’s actual inner workings and why innovative models like agriculture value chain financing are capable of providing the opportunities for banks to delve effectively and successfully into agricultural financing,” sabi ni Fonacier.

DEAD SPARROW.

(TRANSLATION: As for the communists, I’ve been saying that since you have been using sparrows, I instructed the government to create our own sparrow. What should it be called? Sparrows are birds. Maybe it should be “Pirok-Pirok (blinking) Squad”).

Teddy Locsin Jr. is not just a good choice, he is the right choice. His appointment gives us assurance that the country’s top diplomat will now be held by one of the most brilliant legal and political minds of this generation. Full disclosure, normally I wouldn’t admit to being a relative of someone, especially if their record is pretty lackluster but in this particular case, I am supporting his nomination and voting for him not just because we are distantly related, once removed through my mom, but because I know that he will not allow our country to be bullied. I think he has it in him, the spirit to fight for what is right, for what is just, just as I’ve been inculcated growing up. I am confident that he will ensure that our sovereignty is respected while still being open to collaboration with other nations, the same way he engages his thousands of followers on Twitter, so young and old alike are his fans even at the moment. I congratulate him and I wait to see more great things from this appointment, humanda silang lahat.

I’m more worried for the national, that it is equitable and it is fair. Now si… In the coming days, I have something to… I appointed Bersamin as the Chief Justice.)

And si Carandang, he’s actually the most senior sa Court of Appeals, babae ni. Classmate man na sila ni Carpio. But Carpio was only the salutatorian. He was not the valedictorian. It was Carandang. But nakulgot si Carandang sa Court of Appeals.

(TRANSLATION: And si Carandang, he’s actually the most senior sa Court of Appeals. She’s a woman. She and Carpio were classmates but Carpio was only salutatorian. He was not the valedictorian. It was Carandang. But Carandang was stuck in the Court of Appeals.)

So siya’y pinaka-senior. So I chose Bersamin.

(TRANSLATION: So she’s the highest senior there. I promoted her. I did not pick anyone else aside from the five names that were given to me. Carpio, Peralta, Bersamin. I chose Bersamin.)

Carpio, ingon siya niadto di siya mudawat. Unya pagkahuman kay ang next in rank maoy akong giingon nako next in rank. Next in rank kung maayo ka.

(TRANSLATION: Carpio refused the offer. So the next in rank is… Next in rank if you’re good.) Just because you’re a salutatorian, it does not mean a s*** to me. Mag sige ka’g hanker nga atakehon nimo nang — you do something. What do you want me to do? Arbitration so I’ll order my military and the police to go there in Palawan and shoot it out? It will be a massacre. O di ta madaog diha. Wala tayong ma-ano niyan.
