Villasis candidates  hold unity walk, sign peace covenant

 VILLASIS- For peaceful, honest, orderly and drug-free Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections on May 14, candidates vying for Punong Barangays, Sangguniang Barangay members, Sangguniang Kabataan Chairmen, and Sangguniang Kabataan members held a Unity Walk and signed the Peace Covenant on May 2 at the town’s Covered Public Auditorium.

The events were initiated by the Villasis Police Station headed by Chief of Police Brendon C. Palisoc and the town’s Commission on Election (Comelec) Officer Felomina Matias-Cafe with the assistance of Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Eduviges Villanueva and the municipal government headed by Mayor Nonato S. Abrenica.

 After the Unity Walk, a brief program was held inside the auditorium before the signing of peace covenant.

 Chief of Police Palisoc welcomed the candidates and explained the importance of the activities.

 “We are doing this to ensure that we will have peaceful elections in our barangays. We urge each of you to follow the guidelines set by Comelec and not to undertake unlawful activities related to the elections,” Palisoc said.

 Mayor Abrenica exhorted all candidates to just focus on their individual campaigns and avoid terroristic activities to have peaceful and orderly elections.

 “We have been doing these activities in past barangay elections. We’re glad that no untoward incidents happened in the past. We hope we could do that again during this election period,” Mayor Abrenica said.

 Comelec Officer Cafe explained the various rules and regulations promulgated by Comelec relative to allowable sizes of posters, leaflets, etc.,common poster areas, and the importance of drug-free candidates.

 She also led the pledge of commitment of the candidates and the signing of peace covenant.

 The events were also graced by Vice Mayor Jesus Franco Sison Jr., Councilors Cesar Mario “Butch” Racadio and Felix Ferdinand R. Sison, and Pastor  Ronnie Realin.
