STA. BARBARA– Fourth District Rep. Christopher de Venecia advised farmers to innovate and upgrade their skills as he turned over farm machinery and equipment to some beneficiaries during the turn-over ceremony held at the Department of Agriculture (DA) field office here on Jan. 19.

FARMERS. Pangasinan Fourth District Rep.Christopher de Venecia with Department of Agriculture Region 1 Executive Director Lucrecio Alviar Jr pose for posterity with farmers who are recipients of farm machinery/ equipment during the turn-over ceremony held in DA field office in Sta. Barbara on January 19.

De Venecia, joined by DA Regional Executive Director Lucrecio Alviar Jr and Movie and Television Review and Classification Board Chairman Rachel Arenas who represented her mom, 3rd District Rep. Rose Marie Arenas, told the beneficiaries to share the equipment to their groupmates “so you will progress at the same time”.

“If you receive something, share it,” he said.

De Venecia said farmers should be thankful to President Rodrigo Duterte and Agriculture Secretary Manny Pinol for making sure farmers receive what they need.

He said in the past, farmers give their counterpart when they get farm machinery. He said this time, however, there is no more farmers’ counterpart but the recipients should take good care of the equipment.

De Venecia said one of his thrusts is agriculture as he believes that this sector has big potential to bring progress to the country.

“Let us not be left behind. Let us not be contented to do the practices we had inherited from the past,” he said.

De Venecia said farmers should also be thankful for the efforts their congressmen are doing to get projects for them.

He said there are 294 congressmen across the country and each has to exert much effort to get projects for their farmer-constituents.

Last year, De Venecia and DA also distributed farm machineries to other farmer-beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, Alviar they cannot do alone the distribution as they need congressmen’s help for the funding of the projects.
He said they will continue the distribution of farm machineries this year and in 2019.
