The ” Book Reading Day,” held every 3rd Tuesday of July, is part of of SM Cares Program for Children, the National Book Development Board, Department of Education, Vibal Publishing House, and Calidad Humana.

It is an advocacy of promoting literacy and encouraging children to develop their love for reading at an early age.

During the book reading, Assistant Mall Manager Drake Lim read the book ” Two Friends, One World” while Miss Diamond of the World 2016 Christine Picardal read “Bumabara! Bara-Bara” before the pupils of Rosales Wesleyan Academy.

” Two Friends, One World” talks about friendship and in maintaining relationship among friends.

“Bumabara! Bara-bara” talks about environmental concerns, proper waste disposal and management and on how to preserve the ecology.

The pupils were encouraged to participate in the book reading by answering the questions posed by the readers at the end of the reading of the books.

This was to help sustain the interest of the children in reading activities and to understand the contents of what they are reading.

Mall Manager Catherine Garcia stressed the importance of reading and thanked the countless mall goers who are mostly composed of children.

“Books are powerful tools which instill good values and character for children, enabling us to widen our imagination, enhance creativity and increase aptitude for learning,” Garcia said.

She  further said SM City Rosales is child-friendly and prioritize children’s safety and promote their rights.

” This gives us the opportunity to be venues of learning—to help children develop a love for reading at an early age,” Garcia said.
