DAGUPAN CITY- About 600 students in Pangasinan who underwent summer jobs this year under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) are set to receive their wages after the completion of their post requirements.
This was bared by District Officer Engracio Q. Bailon of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Pangasinan Office during the KBP Forum held at the Sonshine Radio here last June 1.
He said that 15 days after the submission of the post requirements, the wages due to the students will be released to them.
” Under the SPES, wages of the students will be shouldered both by the employers and DOLE at a 60% and 40% sharing, respectively. The objective of the Program is to allow the students to earn during the summer (vacation) period to be used by them during the next school year. This is also to unburden the financial worries of their parents,” Bailon said.
During the forum, Bailon also said  DOLE was waiting for the implementing rules and guidelines regarding the end of contract (endo) policies of business establishments.

He said, once the agency received the guidelines, DOLE employees will be visiting business establishments that are practicing “endo.”
” At present, many business establishments are getting their workers like service crews and cooks from employment agencies. The ‘endo’ guidelines will end this practice. Service crews and cooks who are employed under the employment agencies’ scheme will eventually be absorbed by the mother establishments and given security of tenure and benefits,” Bailon said.
Bailon also revealed that several job fairs are scheduled in June to cater to job seekers, both for local and foreign employment.
The following job fairs are scheduled: June 12 at Nepo Mall in Dagupan City, June 16 in Manaoag and on June 27 in Bayambang. Said job fairs are coordinated with the local government units (LGUs).
