Water supply restored in Dagupan villages

DAGUPAN CITY – The Dagupan City Water District has finally restored water services in at least three villages of the city, ending the seven-month ‘waterless’ agony of residents and concessionaires.
General Manager Adelfo Valle announced that at 3:35 in the afternoon of May 24, the new  Lasip Grande Pumping Station became fully operational with a capacity rate of 21.67 liters per second and with a pressure of 15 pounce per square inch.
“Clean and safe water is vital for life that is why we pushed for the restoration and completion of the pumping station at the shortest possible time for the benefit of our District’s concessionaires,” Valle said.
It can be recalled that in mid-October of 2016, water supply and pressure weakened in Barangays Lasip Grande, Pogo Grande, Malued and in nearby villages because of the massive cave-in of sand of the Lasip Grande pumping station. Eventually, no water would come out from the pipelines during the day. Residents contented themselves by fetching water in containers at midnight till dawn where water pressure is high.

While the construction was on-going, DCWD supplied water though their tanks in the affected villages.
The production well, with a budget of six -million pesos (P6,000,000), took some time because of the scouting of a lot to house the new pumping station. After the construction and preparation phase, pump testings were done and auto-mechanical gadgets were installed, explained Marge Navata, public relations officer of DCWD.
Sheila Aquino, a resident of Brgy. Pogo Grande said her family is relieved now that water is back in their village.
“We can now take a bath using our shower again, hindi na galing sa naimbak na tubing sa drum ang gamit. Hindi na rin magpupuyat sa pag-igib ng tubig,” Aquino said. (VHS/PIA-Pangasinan)
