ORTIGOZA: Is NFA’s boss Aquino a hypocrite?

 mortz-nw-colored3
“If National Food Authority’s Administrator Jason Aquino signed the approval of the three import permits of rice while he fought for the suspension of its importation through the private sector as they prejudice the price of palay in the middle of the harvest season, is Aquino a hypocrite?”
This was my poser to anti-smuggling Samahang Industriya Agrikultura (SINAG) chair Rosendo So when he guested recently my radio program.
Mr. So told me Aquino has a problem.
In his squabble with a cabinet Secretary Leoncio “Jun” Evasco Jr. and Undersecretary Maia Chiara Halmen Valdez, Aquino, a PMYer and recommendee of Paulo Duterte, argued as reported by the media that the importation of rice could pull down the price of palay in the middle of a bumper harvest season in March and April this year.

 By Virgilio Sar. Maganes

This was the message conveyed by first District Rep. Jesus “Boying” Celeste to the 534 drug surrenderers of this town recently at the Don Raymundo Celeste Sports Complex following the declaration of this town as “drug-cleared” by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Celeste who was represented by Sangguniang Bayan Secretary Ayar Montemayor.

MAGANES: The essence of the Lent

vir
God’s compassion to mankind is great. He condemned the sins but not the sinners. Such compassion prompted Him to send His only begotten son Jesus Christ to the world to save mankind from their sins and be with Him in eternal bliss to a place called Heaven.
More than 2,000 years ago, a carpenter’s son from the tribe of Judah in Israel was indicted of blasphemy before the religious court of Israel known as Sanhedrin. The priests at that time were not convinced that He was the Messiah sent by God to atone the sins of mankind.
Jesus of Nazareth claimed that He was the Son of the Most High and started His ministry by teaching the kingdom of God. He performed miracles like changing water into wine during a wedding at Cana, cleansed the lepers, opened the ears of the deaf and eyes of the blind and raised the dead back to life.
Many of the Jews believed Him but there were those who speculated as to who He was. Was Jesus of Nazareth the real Messiah as prophesied by the prophets of Israel before He came to physical being? Was He the King they were waiting to deliver them from the chain of slavery, first from the Egyptians and the Roman Empire? But Jesus was not born in a royal manner. He was born in a manger and was wrapped in a swaddling cloth not befitted for a royalty like Him.

EDITORIAL : Kwaresma
