Urdaneta City celebrates 19th Charter Day

URDANETA CITY- Mayor Amadeo Gregorio “Bobom” E. Perez IV led the celebration of the 19th charter anniversary with simple activities from March 18 to 24.
The celebration will be marked “with lesser pomposity “ compared to what have been practiced in the previous years, said Mayor Bobom adding that Dumayo Festival was dropped as part of the city’s austerity measures.
On March 18, tree planting and citywide clean up campaign were undertaken, participated by city officials, village officials, non-government and religious organizations, the academic community and the city folk. This was followed by a mass at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral.
Mayor’s bloodletting program was undertaken in the morning of the 20th at the Urdaneta City Convention and Sports Center coinciding with the Charter Day Program at the grounds of Old City Hall. In the evening, the city folk were entertained with a fireworks display.
A medical-dental mission at the Senior Citizens Center at Gracia Village, Nancayasan village on the 22nd for senior citizens, while a Kaiba 2017: Leadership Congress was conducted at the Urdaneta City Convention and Sports Center. These activities coincided with the Charter Anniversary Job Fair at the CB Mall Activity Center in Nancayasan village.
In the morning of the 24th, a free-mass wedding dubbed as “Maligayang Basbas ng Pag-iisang Dibdib”, held at the Urdaneta City Convention and Sports Center. At 6:00 in the evening, Yes-FM stagedan anniversary concert at P. Ma. Sison Street (near the public market) in Poblacion village.
The anniversary celebration was capped by an Earth Hour to be observed citywide at 8:00 in the evening
