“We’ve been mining this country for a hundred years. Give me one year and a half and I’ll show you what can be done,” sabi ni Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Gina Lopez

PEACE PROCESS GOES ON.

“Maybe we’ll consider this a temporary setback but the future is not bleak as far as the ceasefire is concerned kasi nga may commitment pa naman na magkikita pa uli,” sabi ni Bok Nani.

MINING IN WATERSHED AREAS STOPPED.Ang watershed ay dapat hindi pinakikialaman as in do not disturb as in hindi iniistorbo dahil ang tubig ay buhay.

“We have also decided to close down any mining operation in functional watersheds. The DENR has rightfully decided to take on social justice. I am not against mining but I am against suffering,” sabi ni Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Gina Lopez .

“If there are businesses and foreigners that go and utilize the resources of the area for their benefit and the people suffer then that’s social injustice,” dagdag ni Lopez.

“Because as a matter of principle, you shouldn’t have mines in a watershed. With a suspension, they can operate again, but I don’t think they should ever operate a mine in a watershed,” sabi ni Sec Lopez.

Sa Zambales ay  BenguetCorp Nickel Mines Incorporated;  Eramen Minerals Incorporated; LNL Archipelago Minerals Incorporated; at Zambales Diversified Metals Corporation.

Sa Homonhon ay ang Mt Sinai Mining Exploration and Development Corporation; Emir Minerals Corporation; at TechIron Mineral Resources Incorporated.

Sa Dinagat Islands ay ang AAMPHIL Natural Resources Exploration; Oriental Synergy Mining Corporation; SinoSteel Philippines HY Mining Corporation; Kromico, Incorporated; Oriental Vision Mining Philippines Corporation; Wellex Mining Corporation; Libjo Mining Corporation.

Sa Surigao del Norte naman ay ang ADNAMA Mining Resources Corporation; Claver Mineral Development Corporation; Hinatuan Mining Corporation; CTP Construction and Mining Corporation; Carrascal Nickel Corporation; Marcventures Mining and Development Corporation; at Platinum Development Corporation.

Suspended din ang mining operations ng Berong Nickel Corporation; OceanaGold Phils; Incorporated; Lepanto Consolidated Mining Corporation; Citinickel Mines and Development Corporation; at Strong Built Mining Development Corporation.

“Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children’s children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.” —Theodore Roosevelt

Maria, San Nicolas, Sto.

“The earth is not dying, it is being killed. And the people who are killing it have names and addresses,” sabi ni Utah Philips.
