Celeste opens 3rd Alaminos City inter-agency sports fest

ALAMINOS CITY – Mayor Arthur F. Celeste formally opened the 2016 Inter-Agency Olympics at Don Enrique Braganza Complex here last November 21.
The sports fest, which was initiated by the city government through the City Human Resource Management Office, is now on its third year aimed at developing camaraderie among government employees and private institutions/organizations within the city and to develop their physical well-being.
The holding of sports competition, which runs until December 10, is pursuant to Civil Service Commission (CSC) Memorandum Circular No. 08, Series of 2011, or the “Reiteration of Physical Fitness Program for Government Personnel.”
Mayor Celeste, during the opening ceremonies, expressed his thanks to the participating teams for giving their time and commitment to the said sports fest.
“We have eight teams last year and I am glad it has increased to 11 teams this year for basketball and volleyball competitions.We are all winners here. We will become more united, stronger as one big family of servants, leaders and responsible citizens. Through this competition, we will achieve a sound body and mind as we welcome the yuletide season,” Celeste said.
Celeste also urged the players including the organizers and tournament officials to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship in the entire duration of the sports fest.
“May you enjoy every moment of the competition. Mold friendship and develop camaraderie among yourselves at all times,” he said.
In opening the event, Celeste was joined by Vice Mayor Anton Perez and City Councilor Rufina Gabriel, Atty. Alfred De Castro, Lito Rabago and newly installed Liga President Raul Bacay and Executive Assistant on Sports Affairs Jan Marionne Fontelera.
Competing in this year’s sporting event are Philippine National Police/Bureau of Fire Protection /106th PMG, Liga ng mga Barangays, Executive Department, DPWH, DepEd, Legislative Department, Judiciary and local courts with Suki Market and Rotary Club, Bankers Association, Nepo Mart, Alaminos City Water District, and Cost Savers Inc..
