ASINGAN- Amid controversies linking her to illegal drugs, the lady mayor of this town added another feather on her cap –the Dangal ng Bayan Award conferred by the Civil Service Commission (CSC), Region I.
Mayor Heidee L. Ganigan-Chua could not hide her joy and excitement because of the award she received during the Regional Recognition and Awards Rites held at Hotel Ariana and Restaurant in Bauang, La Union last September 15 during the 116th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary celebration.
” The award came as a surprise to me during the time that I was nurturing frustrations when my family and I were linked to illegal drugs activities in our town. The award relieved all my frustrations. It showed fully well how I dedicated myself to the service of Asinganians,” Chua said.
The “Dangal ng Bayan Award” is conferred by the CSC to an individual for performance of extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior on the basis of the employee’s observation of the eight norms of conduct under Republic Act No. 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
“To God be the highest glory and thank you for another blessing,” Chua said.
Recall that last election campaign, Chua was accused by her political detractors as a coddler of illegal drug users here and in August, it was suspected that their family poultry farm was a secret shabu laboratory.
The allegations came to end when the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office (PPPO) and the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA) visited the poultry farm.
Aside from Chua, another Dangal ng Bayan Awardee from Pangasinan is Grace A. Satuito, Draftsman II of the municipal government of Lingayen town.
Pangasinenses for the CSC Pag-asa Award are: Dr. Manuel C. Bautista, municipal health officer of Lingayen, Edita C. Limon, administrative aide IV of Pangasinan Provincial Library and Marcelo M. Petonia, general manager of Mangaldan Water District.
For CSC Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award nominees are: Raul R. Dela Cruz, administrative aide I of Mangatarem District Hospital and Police Chief Inspector Ryan L. Manongdo, former chief of Pozorrubio Police Station.
