Villasis police gain headway in ‘Operation Tokhang’

VILLASIS- A total of 502 drug personalities of this town have surrendered on various dates to the police of this town in its massive implementation of “Project: Double Barrel-Operation Tokhang” of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in its war against the proliferation and use of illegal drugs.
The town’s OIC-Chief of Police, Police Chief Inspector Norman Tañedo Florentino said tout of the 502 who surrendered as of August 31, 402 are users while 22 are drug pushers.
“Our successful implementation of crackdown of illegal drugs in the town can be attributed to the support of the municipal officials led by Mayor (Nonato) Abrenica and the full cooperation of the barangay (village) officials in the 21 villages of the town,” Florentino said.
He said before the implementation of “Operation Tokhang,” his office, with the support of the police personnel, had undertaken various consultative meetings with the municipal and barangay anti-drug abuse councils.
“We provided information and education campaign for them to be aware of the various programs of the PNP and to strengthen their capabilities to assist us in the anti-illegal drug campaign,” he said.
Aside from the surrenderers, Florentino bared that drug personalities of the town under the drug priority watchlist in Coplan Stone Cold were arrested in either through warrant of arrest or in buy-bust operations.
Arrested last July 4 by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Junius F. Dalaten of Regional Trial Court Branch were Remegio Lopez Sibayan, 51, married and a farmer, of Caramutan village along with his cohorts- a certain Macala, 18, Alfredo Ledda Comilang, 41, married and jobless,and Roxanne Doroja Biduya, 25, single and a housemaid, of the same place.
Confiscated from them were sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, several firearms of various calibers, several ammunitions, drug paraphernalia and cash believed to have been from proceeds of the sale of shabu.
Lopez is considered as number one in the top priority list.
During the buy bust operations, four top drug personalities of the town were arrested on various dates.
Hamid Joe Feria Maines, 25, with live in partner and a vendor, of Caramutan village, ranked number 3 was arrested on August 7.
Michael Arcega Ocampo aka Mao, 41, married and a security guard, of Unzad village, ranked number 12, was arrested on August 20.
Leo Morta Moreno, 41, married and a farmer of Piaz village, ranked number 6, was arrested on August 22.
Arnel Manuel Mingarine, 51, separated and a farmer, of Piaz village, ranked number 5, was arrested on August 30.
Confiscated from them during the operations were several sachets of suspected shabu and cash used in the buy bust operation.
Cases for violation of Republic Act No. 9105 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against the above named suspects.
There were no reported cases of deaths resulting to the arrest of the suspects.
