BINALONAN – This first class agricultural town will add more modern equipment to beef up the town’s security for its residents.
Mayor Ramon ”Mon-Mon” Guico III said the eastern Pangasinan town will be buying one or two ambulances and three pickup trucks for the Philippine National Police to use as patrol vehicles to maintain peace and order.
He said with the vehicles, the town center will be safe, and at night time residents can bring their family at the plaza and they will not fear that something untoward will happen,” he said
He cited the new police building and the Quick Reaction Response Center (QRRC) building that houses the fire marshals and the Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Council (DRRMC).
“The quick response number is 632-1111, like Shakey’s delivery. But we will have quick response systems for fire, accidents and others,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Guico said he and some municipal are planning to go to the United States to coordinate with the officials of the University of Seattle and talk with the experts there about Carlos Bulosan, an English-language Filipino novelist and poet who spent most of his life in the United States.
The world’s renowned novelist and poet hailed from this town but left for the U.S. in the early 1900s
Wikipidia said that Bulosan’s works and legacy is heralded in a permanent exhibition, “The Carlos Bulosan Memorial Exhibit” in that State.
“Bring some memorabilia of Carlos Bulosan that has been put up in that university. This is our key to our educational tourism in Binalonan,” he cited.
