New political leaders emerge in Pangasinan’s 5th District

URDANETA CITY- The last May 9 election saw old and new faces winning in different positions.
In the 5th district, some new leaders emerged winners in various positions, which can be interpreted as people wanted fresh faces in their choice of leaders.
In Sison town, outgoing 5th Provincial District Board Member Danilo Uy snatched the mayorship from incumbent Mayor Mina Joy Pangasinan. In Pozorrubio, incumbent Mayor Artemio Chan regained his post and in Alcala Vice Mayor Jojo Callejo took over the town’s rein from Mayor Ryan Paolo Mencias.
In Villasis, former Mayor Nonato S. Abrenica triumped against Vice Mayor Paz Sison Rafanan while incumbent councilors dominated the Sangguniang Bayan. However, Mario Cesar Racadio took the second highest slot next to the young popular Councilor Nicoli Jan Louie Q. Sison.
In this city, new faces held the top three slots fora councilors- Jimmy Parayno, Tet Perez Naguiat and Jen Gandia Garcia.
Julio Parayno III got the nod of the city’s voters against incumbent Vice Mayor Franco SJ Del Prado Sr.
The composition of local officials in Sto. Tomas town remained unchanged as the candidates from mayor down to the members of the Sangguniang Bayan are unopposed.
In Bautista,Amadeo Espino regained his post.

 For the congressional post, outgoing Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. lodged out incumbent Rep. Kimi S. Cojuangco garnering 58% of the total votes cast in the district.
Mary Rosary “Chinky” Perez-Tababa topped the two slots for members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan representing 5th Districtwith re-election its Clemente “Nino” Arboleda Jr.
