URDANETA CITY- The more than 60,000 Muslim residents all over Pangasinan have thrown their support to the gubernatorial bid of Mark O. Cojuangco and the vice gubernatorial bid of Mark Roy Macanlalay because of their high hopes that the said candidates could alleviate their lives by providing them other sources of livelihood.
This was disclosed by Datu Guialoson “Guia” Macmod, President of Pangasinan Integrated Muslim Assembly Inc. (PAMI).
Macmod said they are supporting Cojuangco and Macanlalay due to the leadership abilities they have shown to the Pangasinenses, including the Muslims who made the province their second home.
” With them as leaders of Pangasinan, we hope that they will provide assistance to the Muslim communities and provide us decent sources of income and not just be vendors of video compact discs (VCDs) and other products,” Macmod said.
Macmod also said an Executive Order from the provincial government creating the Muslim Consultative Council has long been issued but until now no one has been appointed to handle the said Council.
He said the Council should have been the organization to handle the Muslim affairs in the province where their problems and aspirations will be aired.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Pangasinan Muslim Association Inc. (FPMAI) under the leadership of Imam Cabsaran Capia has undergone a consultative meeting with Cojuangco and Macanlalay last April 16 in Calasiao town where they also pledged their support to the said candidates.
The organization also threw its support to presidential candidate Senator. Grace Poe to whom they pin hope for a prosperous Philippines.
