DAGUPAN CITY –The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has started conducting  the province-wide training for the Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) who will play a vital role in the coming 2016 national elections.

Lawyer Ericson Oganiza, city election officer of Dagupan, said the training started on March 1 and will end on March 20. It is held simultaneously at the Dagupan Village Hotel and Pangasinan Regency Hotel.

“The training is intended to orient the BEIs about the legal and technical aspects of general instructions and the operation for the vote-counting machine, as mandated by Comelec Resolution 10057,” Oganiza said during the KBP Forum held at the Philippine Information Agency Thursday.

Come first week of April, the poll body will start to train the municipal, city, and provincial board of canvassers who will count the ballots and receipts relayed by the voting precincts, Oganiza added.

He said Comelec will allow voters the chance to have a screen review of their ballots for 15 seconds and wait for another 30 seconds for their vote-receipt.

In the same forum, Oganiza reiterated to all local and national candidates to follow the mandated tarpaulin size and strictly follow the areas where they are allowed to hang campaign paraphernalia.

“Mahalaga ang gagampanan ng ating iboboto, sila ang gagawa ng batas, at magpapatupad ng batas, ngayon kung sa napakadaling panuntunan ng paglalagay ng poster at kung gaano kalaki ang size  ng poster ay hindi nila masunod, bakit pa natin sila iboboto?” said Oganiza. (VHS/EGC/PIA-1/Pangasinan)
