ROSALES- In support to the worldwide Earth Hour celebration, SM City Rosales will join the light switch off on March 19, as part of its commitment to environment.
This was learned from Roselle Gale who said SM malls all over the Philippines take a stand to inspire communities to fight  the threat of global warming and make a commitment to a low-carbon lifestyle.
” The light switch off will start at exactly 8:30 pm. This is to emphasize that the time is not only a symbol of our support for the campaign to reduce energy consumption. It is also a call for everyone to share our advocacies for people and the planet, to carefully consider society and the environment in all of our actions,” Gale said.
This year’s theme, “Shining a Light on Climate Action”, seeks to spark awareness and inspire society to direct its efforts towards combatting global warming.
It is a community empowering campaign that leverages on the prominence of social media to make a difference in the world.

For nine years,  SM  malls are continuously engaged in Earth Hour celebration – a small effort with big impact on worldwide movement to protect the planet.
Other SM’s activities in gearing up towards sustainable living on mall operations are the  use of  updated appliances for efficient energy ; air conditioning systems powered with variable frequency drives – technology that allows automatic power conversion to maintain temperature even as the weather varies and the use of solar panels in powering malls.
For saving more than P320 million in energy cost, SM has dominated the Don Emilio Abello energy efficiency awards, winning 56 awards, from the Department of Energy.
