VILLASIS- To strengthen the capability of the town’s disaster risk reduction and management, the municipal government of this town recently conducted First-Aid Training in the Community in coordination with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), Pangasinan Chapter through its administrator Florame S. The training consisted of first aid training for lay rescuers and basic life support-cpr training for lay leaders for 20 trainees from the municipal government, Villasis-Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection-Villasis, DELTACOM and Philippine Guardians Brotherhood Inc. (PGBI).
The trainees received certificates and identification cards from PNR.
“This training will equip the volunteers with skills in responding to disasters during calamities and to strengthen our Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office,” Mayor Libradita Abrenica said.
She said the municipal government provided P30,000 to subsidize the cost of training. The trained volunteers will be working with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).
Meanwhile, the municipal government has also conducted  last February 18-19 a two-day basic training and refresher course for 22 Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS).
The training is aimed at for the BNS to acquire knowledge, attitude and skills to be effective in their work particularly in identifying and monitoring malnourished children and referring them to appropriate service providers.

It was facilitated by Municipal Nutritionist Jennilee T. Abrenica with trained BNS Michelle Flores and Lodie Sepnio, both from Bacag village.
