DAGUPAN CITY – Former Speaker Jose de Venecia lauded Senator Grace Poe for leading the latest presidential polls but scrubbed the plan of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to create a revolutionary government once elected as president of the country.grace po
De Venecia was behind the creations of the “Rainbow Coalition” in Congress and the Build- Operate-Transfer scheme that expedited government projects during the Ramos Administration.
But he said even if Poe eclipsed other presidential rivals at the latest Social Weather Stations and the Pulse Asia surveys, it is still too early to celebrate since election is still far away.
‘Will there are the ups and downs of the polls. I congratulate her for her significant improvement in the rating, but these are early days, one year away is election. The situation is very fluid,” said de Venecia.
In the May 30 to June 5 Pulse Asia and the June 5 to 8 Social Weather Station’s surveys, the country’s foremost pollster tabulated that Poe led by 30% while Vice President Jejomar Binay, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas got 22%, 15%, 10%, respectively at Pulse Asia. At SWS, Poe overtook her perceive presidential rivals by 42% while Binay, Duterte, and Roxas got 34%, 21%, 20%, respectively
Davao City Mayor Duterte, in some of his powwows at the different parts of the country, exhorted his listeners that in case Congress and the Supreme Court would not sanction his programs to salvage the country from revolting corruption and patent penury he would declare a revolutionary government in six months to one year.

“That’s what you get for voting for me,“ he told cheering members of the Rotary Club here last February.
When asked if Duterte’s revolutionary government is the right package to resuscitate the country’s lethargy just like what Singapore’s Head of State Lee Kuan Yew, Taiwan President Chiang Ching-kuo, South Korea General Park Chung -hee imposed authoritarianism in the 1960s that made their countries reached first world status.
“We don’t need to go back to dictatorship to defeat poverty, to achieve 7 to 8% economic main growth, to reconcile with Vietnam and China and the other nations without sovereignty claim, “De Venecia, the co-chairman of the prestigious International Conference of Asian Political Parties , explained.
He added that revolutionary government that Duterte espouses is not the answer to the ills of the country.
“You know, we have shown that dictatorship is not worthy, that’s the reason why President (Ferdinand) Marcos was ousted through the EDSA Revolution by the People Power. What we need now is clean governance, strong political leadership but not dictatorial”.
