SM City Rosales kicks off ‘Tinapa Festival’

ROSALES- This agricultural town in the eastern portion of Pangasinan will soon have its own One Town, One Product (OTOP) when the municipal government led by Mayor Susan P. Casareno collaborated with the management of SM City Rosales to kick off the “Tinapa Festival” last June 13.
SM City Mall Manager Jersey Y. Mendoza said during the kick off ceremony that the event is their commitment to support the OTOP of the town and as a gesture of thanks for being the host of the said mall.
He expressed his thanks to the municipal government and vowed to support whatever activities the town will venture into.
“Rest assured that our partnership with you in the development undertaking in the town will be further enhanced and our cooperation will be strengthened,” Mendoza said.
Mayor Casareno also expressed her gratitude to the management of SM City Rosales for being the conduit in launching the “Tinapa Festival” saying that it marks another highlight in her administration.
“The “tinapa” industry (smoked fish) has been a livelihood endeavor of the people here especially in Carmen West village 50 years ago. It has been passed from generations to generations and out of it, many successful individuals came from the families that engaged in the said industry,” Mayor Casareno said.
She also said with the launching of the “Tinapa Festiva

l”, the product will be promoted and expanded not only in the town but in the entire province and country.
Highlighting the event was the contest on “101 Ways on How to Cook Tinapa” , with 25 entries using “tinapa” as the main ingredient.
Other municipal officials who graced the said event are Vice Mayor Harry Bernabe, Councilors Romeo Sim, Enrique Cosue Jr., Jimlo Olegario and Manolo Quiambao
