Cojuangco told reporters that what he has constructed out of his priority development assistance fund (PDAF) were multipurpose community centers and not ordinary “comfort rooms” as what his critics claimed.
These community centers are located in the town’s of Alcala, Pozorrubio and Sison.
” They (critics) should look at the area and the quality of construction. In Alcala, which costs more or less P7 million, the community center was built because many “balikbayans” clamored for presentable comfort rooms especially during their town’s fiesta celebration,” Cojuangco said. (more…)

Mayor Domantay expressed his gratitude to Senator Guingona for the visit and promised his all out support for his re-election bid as senator in 2016 elections.
Guingona informed the crowd that he was the author of the free-Philhealth coverage of all senior citizens in the country, which took effect on November 2014.

EDITORIAL: Pangasinan adopts a Japanese as ‘son’?

Right after Governor Amado T. Espino Jr., Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim Jr. and some department heads went on a study tour at Kurobe dam, a hydroelectric power facility of Kansai Electric Power Company in Japan last May 27-31, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan declared Ryukichi Kawaguchi, chair/president and Chief Executive Officer of San Roque Power Corporation as an “adopted son of Pangasinan.”Image (2)
The resolution of adoption number 1368-2015 was passed during the SP’s regular session last June 8, the very first session after the provincial officials’ trip.
Sponsored by 6th District Board Member Alfonso C. Bince Jr., who was designated as Acting Governor when Espino and Calimlim were in Japan, the resolution said Kawaguchi was “one of the best technocrats of San Roque Power Corporation who is responsible for the major decisions and processes of the corporation in ensuring the path towards clean power and building sustainable communities in Pangasinan.”
Moreover, said resolution stated that “for than a decade , San Roque Power Corporation since its start of operation in 2003, has become increasingly active in organizing and financing development projects that have benefitted different local communities.”
There’s nothing wrong in adopting civic-spirited persons as sons or daughters of Pangasinan especially if they have contributed to the province’s development.
But why only now that the provincial government has adopted Kawaguchi?
Was this a repayment of his initiative in bringing Espino, Calimlim and some department heads to Japan just to see a dam that generates power? What is the difference of such dam with that of the San Roque Power Dam in Pangasinan?
The adoption of Kawaguchi as “son of Pangasinan” has put questions into the minds of Pangasinenses. Here comes a foreigner who has not done much in the development of Pangasinan except as being president of a power plant, had been adopted as “son”. (more…)

MAGANES: Senator Grace Poe is it!

While she has not categorically announced that she is aiming the presidency in 2016 election, Senator Grace Poe’s popularity has begun to peak and is most likely successor of President Benigno S. Aquino III.
In the latest Pulse Asia and Social Weather Station (SWS) surveys conducted in the first week of June, Poe overshadowed the once leading presidentiable Vice President Jejomar Binay and the Liberal Party presumptive presidential candidate Mar Roxas II.
Prior to the surveys of the two leading survey firms in the country, the camp of Binay has committed a grave blunder when United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) spokesperson Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco said publicly that Poe could not run either President or Vice President because she lacks residency in the Philippines. This was followed by another attack that Poe was just a “foundling” and adopted daughter of the King of Philippine Movies Fernando Poe Jr. and movie actress Susan Roces.
Apparently, the camp of Binay lost the momentum of its public relations (PR) activities considering that Vice President Binay is facing accusations of corruption when he was still the city mayor of Makati. He has not answered the allegations against him much less faced his accusers during the Senate hearings conducted by the Blue Ribbon Committee.

With the results of the latest surveys, Binay’s camp is in limbo. Can they change the perception of the Filipinos that what we need in 2016 is “honest, sincere and committed leader” without any shades of corruption attached to his name? Binay has once touted that he is an experienced public official who is lovef by the people of Makati City for years. But those experiences were destroyed by corruption charges- not only him but his son Makati Mayor Junjun Binay and his wife Elenita, also a former mayor of Makati City.
Senator Grace Poe has never been intimidated of the attacks against her. Of course as a human being she was deeply hurt by tirades especially those coming from the friends of her father FPJ. But Poe knows her aces. She knows the gullibility of politics. She knows that once she will announce her plans to run for presidency, more tirades against her will be coming. Will she be fazed and cowed?

Three months from now, all those eyeing for a position in 2016 election- from president down to city/town councilors will already be filing their certificates of candidacy before the Commission on Election (Comelec). And hopefully Senator Grace Poe will finally heed to the people’s call for her to run for president— a call for a “leadership change” and a call to continue the “Tuwid na Daan” of PNoy.

I believe to that call.

Everybody wants the truth but nobody wants to be honest, hindi po ba Sen. TG. Guingona? Long time no see. Hahaha.
