URDANETA CITY- This premier city and cattle capital of the north was once again adjudged the “ cleanest, safest and greenest city” of Pangasinan, which was awarded last May 1 during the culmination of month-long Pistay Dayat 2015 held at Banaga, Bugallon.
The award was received by City Mayor Amadeo Gregorio “Bobom” Perez IV who said the recognition given by the provincial government has validated its being the Region I Hall of Famer of “Cleanest, Greenest and Safest City,” an award received for four consecutive years.
“ These awards we received are incentives for the efforts we are doing here in the city. Since we launched our campaign for clean environment, the city folk as well as visitors in the city heeded our call to observe our ordinance on anti-littering and other pro-environment measures. We owe all of these to the active participation of our people, municipal employees, city officials and also our village officials,” Mayor Perez said.
He also said his administration will continue to implement environmental laws and safety standards in the city.
This city was the first to establish an “engineered sanitary land fill” in Region I in compliance with Solid Waste and Ecological Act of 1991 or Republic Act No. 9003.

“We have to protect and preserve the environment to mitigate the global climate change. This is not only the responsibility of public officials but all of us who love the environment,” he said.
Barangay Nancalobasaan of this city under village head Wilma Segundo, was declared 1st Runner-Up for Barangay Category..
Other winners are : Villasis for Category A; Sta. Maria, Category B; Urdaneta City, Category C; and Brgy. Arnedo in Bolinao, Category D.
