DAGUPAN CITY- Radio stations could be likened to basketball teams and universities. If the team attracts the interests of the people then it will become popular.
NBA basketball teams which have good players like (James) Lebron and Wade have a lot of followers and fans. Universities which have good instructors with masters or doctorate degrees give confidence to parents to send there their children.
This was stressed by Abono Partylist Conrad M. Estrella III during the inauguration of the first FM radio station with AM programming-DWIZ News Radio last July 25 here.
“ I believe that you have a good team here lead by Orly Navarro, Allan Sison , Minerva Caburnay, Susan Yadao and Liway Yparraguirre. I am confident that DWIZ is the radio station to reckon with in the next years to come. These are the men and women who are tested anchors and have already mass following,” Estrella said.
He said people want news and information everyday that radio stations have important roles to play in shaping the values of the people.
Estrella, whose family owned the defunct Magiliw Broadcasting Company (MBC) that operated the radio stations-DWMC-AM in Tumana, Rosales and DWON-FM in Dagupan City lauded the management of Aliw Broadcasting Company (operator of DWIZ) of its pioneering spirit in putting up a FM station with AM programming.
“ This is a breakthrough in radio operations. I congratulate you especially Ambassador Antonio Chua Cabangon for this effort. As a news radio station, I hope you will convey the real news obtaining in the province for the enlightenment of our people,” he said.
AM is amplitude modulation with mono-stereo sound system which has regular programs such as public affairs programs, soap operas and commentaries. FM is frequency modulation with stereo sound system that usually caters to youth due to music oriented programs.
“ I have only one request to your station. Please include programs for our farmers and the youth. I will try to get sponsors for these programs,” Estrella said.
Joining Estrella during the opening was Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim Jr., 2nd District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil, 5th District Board Member Danny Uy and local officials of Dagupan City.
Calimlim praised the management of DWIZ for coming up with a radio station that caters to news stories and events.
“ As news makers, you are providing information to Pangasinenses and we politicians who mostly the contents of your news have to support these endeavors,” Calimlim said.
The opening of DWIZ was also attended by one of the pillars of Philippine Broadcasting, Rey Langit.
