Abono to Biazon: Resign irrevocably

DAGUPAN CITY – The agriculture sector leaders welcomed President Aquino’s criticism of the Bureau of Customs during his State of the Nation Address, but were disappointed that the resignation of BoC commissioner Ruffy Biazon may not push through after the President expressed his confidence on the Customs head.ruffy_biazon-300x225
Rosendo So, chair of the Abono party-list group, said Biazon’s resignation should have been “irrevocable” as he was not able to stop rampant smuggling during his term.
“Biazon had vowed to revamp the BoC to remove people suspected of being behind smuggling, but after almost two years, he still has to implement revamp in the agency,” So said. (more…)

virThe 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Benigno S. Aquino III was delivered at the Batasang Pambansa last July 22. It was a jampacked with politicians, kibitzers and foreign dignitaries. The solons outshone each other by wearing fashionable clothes and accessories putting celebrities-locals and foreign in shame. Indeed, he was again in his fighting form punctuated by several incessant coughing to the dismay of those against smoking. PNoy is known as chain smoker. But that’s not the point here. We have a president who could turn things to fruition. His predecessors have been eclipsed by what he did in three years administration. The president performed well last year and there is no doubt about that. Our economy became robust to the envy of neighboring developing (more…)

Conrad graces opening of dwIZ-News Radio

By Virgilio Sar. Maganes
DAGUPAN CITY- Radio stations could be likened to basketball teams and universities. If the team attracts the interests of the people then it will become popular.
NBA basketball teams which have good players like (James) Lebron and Wade have a lot of followers and fans. Universities which have good instructors with masters or doctorate degrees give confidence to parents to send there their children.
This was stressed by Abono Partylist Conrad M. Estrella III during the inauguration of the first FM radio station with AM programming-DWIZ News Radio last July 25 here. (more…)

Revisiting Villasis GK Namnama Village

By Virgilio Sar. Maganes

VILLASIS- With barely three years after it was established, the Gawad Kalinga (GK ) Namnama Village here deserves a closer look. Were there in the lives of the villagers? Did the core homes become havens of the intended beneficiaries? What assistance are still needed to sustain the village operations?
The GK Village started in 2005 when Peter and Soledad (Obedoza) Montilla, who were based then in Virginia, USA attended a meeting of Couples for Christ in Washington D.C., USA.
