Too big to be recognized, too small but recognizable
There is a saying that small is beautiful.
Is the idea of “small is beautiful” relevant in Pangasinan politics for the 2013 elections?
Looking at the pictures during the filing of certificates of candidacy, the big group of the Espino-Calimlim team was too big to identify the individuals.
To be able to identify each one in the pictures, we had to look closer and we initially recognized former Bayambang Mayor Leo De Vera, who filed for board member of the third district.
But if you look at the Braganza-Lomibao picture, we need not look closer because we easily recognized Alaminos City Mayor Hernani Braganza and retired General Arturo Lomibao without looking closer.
How will NPC use its being a big political party in Pangasinan?
How will LP use its being small in the run up to the 2013 elections?
While Governor Espino has marginally more authority in Pangasinan as an incumbent, his rule is constrained by public opinion and of forces outside of Pangasinan.
The objective reality of Pangasinan politics may predominantly be decided locally but national reality must also be considered in determining the outcome for governor and vice governor.
The past words and actions of the Governor Espino towards people who are not from Pangasinan may be a factor in his intense desire to serve a third term.
The past words and actions of Mayor Braganza towards people who are not from Pangasinan may be a factor in his intense desire to offer a different ideal for the post of provincial governor.
The present words and actions of the Governor Espino towards people who are not from Pangasinan may be a factor in his intense desire to serve a 3rd term.

The words and actions before the May 13, 2013 elections of the Governor Espino towards people who are not from Pangasinan may be a factor in his intense desire to serve a 3rd term.
