EDITORIAL: Thoughts of Conrad Estrella III

Many political observers are putting color in the presence of Conrado M. Estrella III in the first district, the fourth district and the third district.

But his presence has nothing to do with the fight for governor in 2013 but with his being Abono Party-list provincial chairman for Pangasinan.

“Napag-utusan lang po ako nila Abono Congressman Eskimo at Congressman Pacoy na pamunuan ang health mission dito sa San Carlos City at gift giving sa mga binaha ng habagat sa Calasiao,” said Conrado Estrella III. “Ordinary citizen lang ako ngayon.”

Although Abono is a party-list organization with nationwide constituency, most of the projects are in Pangasinan and La Union.

Estrella explains that the principle used by Abono in the distribution of its projects is based on the saying that charity begins at home.

Abono prioritizes Pangasinan because majority of its supporters are from Pangasinan. Abono also prioritizes La union because bulk of its supporters also come from La Union.

In the field of ecology, Estrella called for people to plant more trees as a positive action against global warming. Trees absorb water and contain soil erosion.

In the field of farming, he says that farming is a highly technical endeavor and farmers need to learn scientific farming.

Abono will continue to push for increased farm output through improved farm technologies, he says.

In the field of politics, Estrella says the coming elections should be an opportunity for people raise the level of political discourse on the positive side.

He says “Sana tayong lahat magkapit bisig, magtulungan tayo, malapit na ang eleksiyon, huwag natin pairalin ang paninira, imbes na maghilahan tayo pababa…magtulakan tayo paitaas.”

In the field of labor and education, Estrella says Abono also advocates for a globally competitive workforce through quality education because many rich nations have an ageing population and lack the necessary labor force.

He does not fail to remind everybody to regularly acknowledge the Almighty for the blessings received by each and every one.

To everybody he says, Agkararag tayo amin kankanayon tapno addupay ti maawat tayo ng bendisyon ti Apo nga Makabalin
