LINGAYEN- The Committee on Children, Women, Senior Citizens, Family Affairs and Social Welfare of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan is set to investigate the alleged irregularities on the selection of the beneficiaries of the “Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program” (4Ps) or the conditional cash transfer program.
This was contained in an approved Provincial Resolution No. 1402-2012 authored by SP Member Von Mark R. Mendoza , which was approved during the regular session last September 3.
Mendoza said that he received complaints that there are beneficiaries of the 4Ps who are not really indigents and some of the alleged beneficiaries do not qualify under the program.
“We will conduct the inquiry in aid of legislation. The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) is not in any way connected or involved in selecting beneficiaries of the 4Ps. It is the national government under the Department of Social Welfare and Development that has hand in the selection process. I urge the committee under Board Member (Raul) Sison to schedule the inquiry as soon as possible,” Mendoza said.
SP Member Sison explained the selection process of the beneficiaries of 4Ps are conducted by the DSWD at the municipal level in order not to politicize the program, as he welcomed the move to conduct inquiry in aid of legislation.
SP Member Mojamito Libunao expressed his strong support to the resolution and said the selection process should be looked into by the the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices (MSWDOs) in the province.
“ We have to summon officials from the PSWDO, MSWDOs and even from the DSWDO to shed light on the matter, “ Libunao said.
