MAGANES: Word war of the political titans
Like a volcanic eruption of Mount Pinatubo and Mayon Volcano, Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. has spewed a magma of unprintable words against 6th District Board Member Ranjit Ramos Shahani during an interview over the radio in Dagupan City. The sudden outburst of emotions by Governor Espino stemmed from an alleged statement of Shahani that he ( Espino) is the ” most corrupt Governor the province of Pangasinan ever had.”
Nobody can blame Governor Espino for reacting negatively. No one in his sane mind could accept a sweeping accusation of being a corrupt official, much so that there is a good name and political career to protect. (more…)
SP declares Urbiztondo’s loan null and void

LINGAYEN – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has declared null and void Ordinance No. 01-2012 of Urbiztondo town, which authorizes the town to borrow P52 million from the bank.
Provincial Resolution No. 1292-2012 was passed last July 16 during the SP’s 69th regular session.
The ordinance earlier drew flak among the SP members when they learned that Urbiztondo Mayor Ernesto Balolong has already issued checks as payments to suppliers out of the loan, approval of which has not been granted by the SP. (more…)
No to the privatization of gov’t hospitals- Casiño

DAGUPAN CITY- Bayan Muna Partylist Rep. Teodoro “Teddy” Casiño strongly opposes the government plan to privatize public hospitals under the public-private partnership.
He said privatizing medical services by hospitals in the country will increase costs of medicines and even the professional fees of medical practitioners.
Speaking on a phone patch interview on Abono sa Radyo aired over DZRD-Sonshine Radyo hosted by Jimrey Biosa last July 18, Casiño said the plan will make medical services more unaffordable especially to the indigent families. (more…)
BSL sees need for tall buildings to meet growing number of school population
Dagupan City – The city government has programmed the construction of high-rise school buildings to address the growing number of school population and land requirements in all public elementary and secondary schools here.
This was disclosed by Mayor Benjamin S. Lim when he addressed the mass induction of the new set of officers from Kindergarten to Grade VI classes of the Bolosan Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association in barangay Bolosan last Thursday.

EDITORIAL: No to privatization of public hospitals
Privatization of public hospitals is being pushed in Congress.
House Bill 6069, or an Act Creating National Government Hospital Corporations authored by Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez, and Senate Bill 3110 or the National Government Hospital Corporate Restructuring Act proposed by Senator Franklin Drilon will lead to privatization of hospitals.

CIRHOSSIS. Si Pareng Jun ay 64 years old na at nasa Dagupan siya ngayon katulad ni Pareng Ronald na ngayon ay 51 years old na nasa Urdaneta ay nabubuhay na may sakit na cirrhosis.
Kumusta na po kayo MAYOR NANI BRAGANZA? HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Alam niyo po ba na Ang cirrhosis ay souvenir ni Pareng Jun dahil minsan sa isang mahabang kabanata ng kanyang buhay ay nagkahilig siya sa alak?
Ang cirrhosis ay souvenir din ni Pareng Ronald dahil hanggang ngayon ay mataas pa rin ang konsumo niya ng alak.
Peraho silang laging nakakaramdam ng napakatinding sakit ng tiyan pero ang kaibahan ni Pareng Jun at ni Pareng Ronald ay ganito.
Si Pareng Jun ay diagnosed na may cirrhosis kaya naman ginagawa niya ang lahat para maiwasan ang patuloy na paglala ng kanyang sakit. (more…)
Canada hit for unfair trade, meddling on QR on rice

QUEZON CITY-Swine Development Council Director Rosendo So is asking Canadian trade authorities to explain the disparity in its pork exports to the Philippines in 2011 as compared to the pork import records of the country in the same period.
So said local hog raisers also wonder why Canada is meddling in the country’s renegotiation for an extension of the quantitative restrictions (QR) on rice.
He said Canada is guilty of unfair trade. (more…)
