Alaminos police file murder cases
ALAMINOS CITY—The police have filed three counts of murder against a Muslim for allegedly shooting to death recently three teenagers in barangay Bisocol here.
Supt.Rolie Saltat said the cases filed against Aaron Mansongayan last May 16 by the families of the victims at the city prosecutor’s office, were strong enough to secure a conviction of the suspect, who, however, as of press time, is still at large.
Saltat said at least four persons were willing to testify, including the brother-in-law of the suspect, to the crime that claimed the lives of Wilcyn Ramiscal Palecpec, 19, a graduating nursing student; Sonny Escartin Asia, 18, and John David Paje Alamanzor, 13, all residents of barangay Bisocol. MAGANES: At last, P-Noy heard the hog raisers’s voice!
I was going over the previous issues of Northern Watch the other day and to my amazement, the call of the hog raisers and Abono Partylist for the government to abet meat smuggling in the country was started in 2010. This newspaper to stir the government’s policy to save the hog industry that is almost at the brink of dying carried many news stories about meat smuggling. (more…)
Villasis concludes basketball tourney

VILLASIS- After almost two months of basketball competition of the twenty villages’ teams, the Mayor’s Cup 2012 (Inter Barangay Basketball Tournament) culminated in a victory party at the Public Auditorium last May 18.
The teams through their coaches and managers received certificates of appreciation from Mayor Libradita Go-Abrenica for actively participating in the said tournament during a program hosted by Melchor M. Perez and Merly Zambrano, (more…)
DA ups reference prices for pork, offal

ROSALES – The Swine Development Council welcomed the decision of the Department of Agriculture to base the reference price of imported meat products on the world market prices, “a move aimed at abating technical smuggling and enabling the government to collect the right amount of tariff.”
SDC director Rosendo So said Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala has written Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima about the increase in the reference prices of imported port and chicken.
The world market price is three times the price of what the meat importers misdeclare and undervalued, a practice which is called technical smuggling, So said. (more…)
20 holds musical rally vs payroll issue

MANGALDAN–The mayor of this town has forwarded to the Civil Service Commission (CSC) the position paper on the payroll issue amid the conduct of a the musical rally conducted by around 20 people.
Mayor Herminio Romero said he approved the rally for the organizers to express their sentiments on problems that need to be addressed.
He said his approval of the rally was based on its purpose and the agreement between the organizers headed by Erika Imus and the town’s chief of police Mateo Casupang on the peaceful conduct of rally. (more…)
