Who are behind technical smuggling of meat?

URDANETA CITY – A hog grower industry leader asked the national government to investigate the people behind the top ten importers of offal (innards , cheeks and other low-priced parts of pigs) and where they bring the animal products.
Swine Development Council director Rosendo So said a list from the Bureau of Customs of offal importers does not include known meat processors like Purefoods, RFM and San Miguel Corporation which ranked 27th, 47th and 84th, respectively.
Bureau of Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon said in earlier reports that the importers of meat and meat products are processors, “but the top ten in the list are unknown even to the Department of Agriculture as meat processors,” So, national chair of Abono Party list, said. (more…)

MAGANES: Where did P-Noy go after opening the Palarong Pambansa?

The opening ceremonies of the Palarong Pambansa 2012 held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) last May 7 was indeed spectacular in terms of entertainment and preparations.

In spite of the hassles I experienced as I almost not able to enter the venue because of the lack of identification card issued by the Provincial Information Office (PIO), I still consider that the opening ceremonies better compared to the past Palarong Pambansa. I have one proposal, however, to the Provincial Information Office to make media accreditation faster.

Since we have the Pangasinan Press Club (PPC), why don’t you accredit the members through the PPC which n turn will issue IDs in coordination with your office. The way I see it, there were preferences in the selection of media practitioners who covered the Palarong Pambansa. Why did I say so? There was no announcement when to avail of the accreditation and the issuances of IDs. Since the Information Office has all the names of the media practitioners, I mean the legitimate ones, then all they had to do is to send to their emails the procedures in getting media accreditation. Well, anyway Butch (Velasco), I have at least watched the opening of the Palaro with gusto and excitement. (more…)
