MANGALDAN –Thousands of people massed at the public gymnasium here to join their newly elected public officials led by re-electionist Hermie Romero in a party to celebrate their victory.

Dr. Rose Ramirez-Hulipas, Romero’s chief of staff, said the revelry was graced by elective officials from the opposite camps.

“Iyong mga losers sa part ni mayor hindi na nag-participate. Hindi na nag-attend, but they were invited. This is open to the public. Lahat ng supporters, lahat ng mga tumulong, at supporters sa kanila during the campaign,” she stressed.

Dr. Hulipas added that 15 to 20 roasted hogs were prepared as the mayor expected up to 5000 supporters and sympathizers to mass and feast on the food.

The party included speeches of prominent public and private individuals here and entertainment numbers by the young and old folks.

The festivity was historical because vice mayor-elect Berex Abalos, who ran as an independent, came and joined Mayor Romero at the presidential table.

According to political pundits here, Abalos, who beat into pulp incumbent vice mayor Pedro Surdilla, is seen as a successor of Romero who is already on his last term.

Romero who got 24,744 votes and won by 8, 857votes against rival Bonafe de Vera — in an election that was marred by accusations of vote buying.

Aside from Romero and Abalos, the elective members of the Sangguniang Bayan (Town Council) here are: Abalos, Maria Teresa M., Aquino, Filmore P., Barrozo, Rosemarie P., Bautista, Zenaida M., Cabrera, Manuel P., Cera, Joseph Emmanuel B., Cervas, Bernabe D. and Fabia, Alberto Leo M
