Pangasinan politics a family affair

Dagupan City – It’s all in the family.
Many newly-elected local officials in Pangasinan are either brothers, father and son or husband and wife.
San Carlos City Mayor Julier Resuello got a new mandate along with his brother, Joseres, who was re-elected vice-mayor.
Councilor Mark Roy of Calasiao town will be the new mayor on June 30. His father Roy, outgoing local chief executive, will become the vice-mayor.
In San Fabian town, three-termer Mayor Mojamito Libunao, who was elected board member of the fourth district, will be succeeded by his wife, Irene.

Requiem for political families: Agbayanis, Pulidos, and Pinols?
My sidekick Procopio Matulis is elated. His favorite senatorial bet TJ Guingona seems to land in slot number 12 in the senate race.
“He should be in slot number 11, edging-out that political nincompoop actor Lito Lapid,” I emphatically told him.
“Why boss?” he posed discombobulated.
“Susmariosep! In his latest ad he alienated nature and pet lovers. Have you seen his TV infomercial where he knocked-down twice with a flushing bolo punched that poor and sorry crocodile amid the incessant shouting from the voice-over of “Guingona galit sa buwaya?”

SY Files: Ang pulitika

Ang pulitika ay katulad din ng sports o ng isang laro. May mananalo at may matatalo. Katulad din ng alinmang paligsahan o palaro kanya kanyang diskarte, praktis at pagpaplano para magwagi at makamit ang medalya.
Hindi pwedeng maging kampante o bara-bara. Hindi rin pwedeng magpabaya, kailangan alerto ang lahat ng senses mo lalong lalo na ang pakiramdam at pandinig. Ganyan ang pulitika.
Nakita ko ang eleksyong ito na yata ang pinakamatindi to the max. Grabeng siraan at tapunan ng putik. Hindi nga ako makapaniwala sa ilang kandidato na bumaba to the lowest level ng kampanyahan.
