DAGUPAN CITY-Step aside Social Weather Station and Pulse Asia. An amputee and a sweepstakes tickets vendor has a wager and a fearless forecast: He bets his remaining undamaged foot for congressional bet Gina de Venecia whom he says will win by landslide on May 10.

Abe Lopez, who used to work as a balancer in a circus and starred with actor Robin Padilla in his flick “Ang utol kong hoodlum,” said that based on his observations in the four towns and a city of the 4thCongressional District of Pangasinan, de Venecia will win handily against survey poll’s laggard Celia Lim.

“Ay, landslide na po! Kasi ito pong 4th District apat na bayan at isang ciudad ay halos lahat ng botante diyan ibubuto si Manay Gina. Hindi na po mabilang ang proyektong ibinuhos nila sa distrito,” he stressed.

Lopez said he was a dyed- in-the wool supporter of Gina’s husband, former House Speaker Joe, since the late 1950s when Joe first joined the congressional contest. Ever since he did not look back but joins without let-up the de Venecia’s bandwagon.

“Sa kanya lang ako. Hindi ninyo ipagtatanung, nakaharap ko na sila Benjie Lim (this city’s mayoral bet) and Celia Lim, pero si JDV ay matulungin po. Maski hindi po ako humingi kay speaker, binibigyan ako ng pangastos ko po,” he said.

Lopez, who sells sweepstakes particularly at the Matutina Restaurant in this city, has met and rubbed elbows with almost all the high and mighty in the government who dropped at the famous seafood house in Barangay Bonuan Gueset here.

“Lagi na ako nagpapakuha ng larawan sa kanila,” he says.

Lopez, who stands four-feet, jokingly said he was an inch taller than President Gloria Arroyo after they both posed for posterity.
