DAGUPAN CITY – On the latest result of a survey commissioned by GAB (acronym of Gina de Venecia, Al Fernandez, and Belen Fernandez), reelection mayor Al garnered 61.02 percent against rival Benjie S. Lim’s 32.98 percent or a lead of 28.04 percent.

In that April 26-30, 2010 survey, the undecided voters however swelled to six percent or an almost one percent higher to the 5.06 percent April 10-14, 2010 survey that was commissioned by Mayor Fernandez.
The April 28-30 survey used a stratified random sampling of 1000 out of the more than 95,000 registered voters of this city. The survey has a margin of error of plus 4 and minus 4.

Stratified random is each member of the registered voters has an equal chance of being selected.

A GAB source, who asked anonymity, said that the new lead of Fernandez was bolstered primarily by adversarial issues incessantly hurled by reelection Vice Mayor Fernandez against Lim in every campaign sortie and in her regular media interviews.

“Issues like the anomalies perpetrated by Lim in the multi-million of pesos Awai land deal, dredging machine, overpriced lampposts, questionable purchase of the P50 million and useless Macador Building, the P600 million loans he entered that burdened the city by P300 million as interest to the bank, and a lot of negative issues that take their toll to the stocks of the former mayor as the campaign comes into conclusion”.

He said the slogans of GAB through billboards and tarpaulins that punctuate the city that say “Huwag iba-on ang Dagupan sa utang,” have undermined Lim- a former two term mayor of this city.

In the March 22-23, 2010 and April 10-14, 2010 surveys commissioned by Bombo Radyo and Mayor Al Fernandez, the latter left Lim by 3.6 percent in Bombo, while Fernandez lead Lim by 14.10 percent on its April 10-14 pre-election poll.

Both of these polls have 1,200 respondents and with a margin of error of plus 3 and minus 3.

The source would not explain why they shifted to a plus 4 minus 4 confidence level on the latest poll.

The April 28-30, 2010 survey uses a facsimile of the official ballot for the voters to shade their preference.

In that survey Vice Mayor Fernandez led by 82 percent against his rival outgoing alderman Pacoy Torio, while congressional bet de Venecia has maintained her significant lead of roughly 90 percent against rival Celia Lim.
