April 5, 1580 declared as Pangasinan’s founding day

LINGAYEN – Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. signed Provincial Ordinance No. 143-2010, declaring and citing April 5, 1580 as the official founding day of Pangasinan, during the Provincial Board’s regular session last February 15.

In order to establish the day that all Pangasineses can consider as Pangasinan Day based on solid historical records, Governor Espino issued Executive Order No. 24-2009, creating the committee composed of historians, researches, members of the academe and media, representatives of different historical associations and government departments of the province, tasked to establish the chartering of Pangasinan.
