CALASIAO – The Revenue District Office – 4 here which is considered a premier tax district because the tax collection is bigger than the collection of the entire province of Tarlac – has a new head – Yolanda Ferrer of Dagupan City.

Ferrer said that she is a native of Pangasinan who used to be an examiner and later Assistant Revenue District Officer assigned here before she got her present post.

“Home-based tayo ngayon kasi dito naman tayo talaga nanggaling way back as examiner tayo. Kabisado na natin ang office dito,” she stressed.

Ferrer used to hold the RDO’s top posts in La Union, Vigan in Ilocos Norte, and Urdaneta.

Upon her assumption of office last January 8, she immediately rallied her subordinates by launching a tax caravan informing the taxpayers of 14 towns and two cities of central Pangasinan of their obligations to pay taxes.

She said that the tax target given to her by the Department of Finance to collect at the end of 2010 is P1.3 billion, one million pesos higher than the last year target of P1.2 billion given to her predecessor Joseph Catapia.

She said her post is a big responsibility especially at the height of the tax- eroding measures passed by congress like the exemption of minimum wage earner and the reduction of corporate tax from 35 percent to 30 percent.

“For this year, pagbutihin namin ang tax compliance ng ating mga negosyante. Continuation ng Oplan Kandidato tuloy tuloy pa rin iyon. We will continue the surveillance operation, meron pa iyong tax mapping operation. We will monitor taxpayers na nakalimutan magbayad, iyong non-filer, iyong unregistered,” she explained.

She added that she would aggressively continue the tax mapping operation among businessmen who did not issue government receipts. She said the first time violator will be fined P10, 000, while the second time violator will be meted P15,000.
