bono Party-list has returned to the first and second congressional districts recently for a free medical and dental mission that would cover all towns and a city there.

Abono President Ponciano Onia said the Party-list budgeted P50,000 for each local government units in the western Pangasinan, to be used for purchasing medicines for the beneficiaries who are mostly poor.

Onia said the party expects an average of 1000 recipients of free medical services and medicies in every town.

He based his assessment after the party’s medical missions in Mabini, Lingayen, and Dasol last December 14, 15, and 16 respectively.

Dr. Ferdinand Guiang, a volunteer doctor, said the program included also an optical mission in cooperation with Malicdem Optical Clinic based in Dagupan City.

Guiang said the medicines being given for free are pain relievers, carbocistene, multi-vitamins for kids and adults, vaccine, paracetamol, mefenamic acid, anti-biotic, necolitic, decongestant, and others.

Onia deplored the rejection by the mayor of the town of Agno of Abono’s endeavor to help the poor there.

He when he made a call to the office of Mayor Joel N. Pajeta for the free medical service, the latter told him that he and his village chiefs do not like the party’s intention.

Agno is one of the poorest towns in the province of Pangasinan .

“ Ayaw po nila dahil lilimang paracetamol lang daw ang ibinibigay namin. Sayang lang daw ang oras nila. Sila naman po ang tumanggi, hindi naman namin sila ipipilit, Marami po namang interesado dito,” he narrated.

After it won two congressional seats in the 2007 poll, Abono has been active in in towns and cities in Region 1 not only on its free medical missions, but its free feeding programs among malnourished children in public elementary schools.
