SM City re-opens in Rosales

ROSALES – Forty-eight days after it was devastated by flood due to Typhoon Pepeng last October 8 and 28 days before Christmas, SM City Rosales at Carmen East village here was formally re-inaugurated on November 26 and was opened to public on November 27.

Its opening shows a positive sign of business and employment opportunities in the area.

Mayor Ricardo V. Revita in his message during the re-inauguration said that he was impressed of the commitment of the SM City management in bringing back the economic activity in the town.

“Mr. Hans Sy and the top management assured me after the flood that they will continue their business here on behalf of the 5,000 workers that are on the verge of job displacement. I was not expecting this to be this fast and I am elated and happy of their commitment,” he said.

Ms Annie Garcia reiterated the commitment of SM City Rosales in her message. She underscored the corporate social responsibility of the SM Group of Companies among which are the provision of jobs, continuous medical missions and the malls being the center of innovations and change.

“The experience we had during the flood did not deter us to pursue our mission. Tenants, workers, employers and employees are partners in these endeavors. Without the other, the vision and mission of the company will not be fulfilled,” she said.

Mary Ann Casil of San Blas, Villasis who is an avid shopper at SM City Rosales was equally impressed on the restoration of the mall.

“It was as if it was not devastated by flood!” she exclaimed after seeing that all the stalls, Hypermarket, department store and the cinemas have been restored to their former conditions.

SM City Rosales is located along the Mc Arthur Highway in Carmen East Village here on a 121,685 square meters property. The mall covers 60,898 square meters which brings shopping, leisure, and entertainment to the residents of Rosales and its neighboring towns of Villasis, Sta. Maria, Balungao, Urdaneta City , Sto. Tomas and Balungao. It serves also the shoppers from the provinces of Nueva Ecija and Tarlac.

The mall has its major anchors such as the Department Store, Hypermarket, SM Appliance Center, Watsons and ACE Hardware. It has fashion boutiques, home stores, electronic, health and personal cares stalls, restaurants and amusement centers.

Its food court provides complete mall experience. It has four deluxe cinemas with a total seating capacity of 2,000. It offers also wide parking area facilities that could accommodate 700 vehicles.

Meanwhile, the SM Cinemas were re-opened coinciding with that of the major anchors. To celebrate Filipino heroism, the cinemas will have a special screening of Home- a documentary on the diversity of life on earth and how humans threaten its ecological balance.

There are many latest movies coming up for screening this Christmas season. Movies currently showing are Twilight Sage:New Moon, 2012, Tanging Pamilya , A Christmas Carol and Ninja Assassin. Amelia will be shown on December 2 and Avatar on December 17.

Filipino films and celebrities take center stage this December when the Metro Manila Film Festival reels screening.
