Chieftain thanks Escudero, Abono for feeding project

DAGUPAN CITY – Bonuan Gueset village chief Angel Gumarang thanked the Abono Party List for launching a supplemental feeding program for malnourished public school children in this city.

Gueset is the most populated village in Pangasinan and probably in the Ilocos Region, Gumarang said.

He thanked Abono Chair Rosendo So and Senator Escudero for making his turf as the first village in this city to benefit on Abono’s well-known feeding of chicken-ingredient corn porridge.

According to Abono provincial coordinator Lenny Flores, the 502 school children who were treated with “ground-corn caldo” and “champorado” last September 25 were assessed as having below normal weight.

De Venecia vs. Lomibao; description personae


mortz2Recently, senatorial aspirant Joey de Venecia has brought in Dagupan City some personalities of the Partido ng Masang Pilipino.

Former President Erap Estrada said the party will adopt Gina de Venecia as its guest candidate in the 4th District.

Former Senator Ernesto Maceda told me that there was intent among the members of the Constitutional Commission to allow a former president like Erap to seek again the presidency of the land.

“What the law prohibits is after the term of the seating president ends, he seek immediate reelection. Because it would put into disadvantage his opponent,” he said.

Villasis spruces up auditorium

VILLASIS – Known for its unique architectural designs of buildings- municipal hall and bagsakan area (wholesale market), this town will soon have another eye-catching edifice- the new auditorium with a wavy-like roofing and spacious area for the townspeople social activities.

Mayor Nonato S. Abrenica recalled that it was in 2008 fiesta celebration that he planned to have the auditorium renovated and have it roofed. There was one night activity of the fiesta which was not conducted due to heavy rains, thus a roof-styled auditorium, he said.

Town fiesta celebration is usually conducted on the second week of January each year. It was not expected that in 2008, strong rains will mar some of the fiesta activities.
