Tarlac-La Union expressway project hits a snag

By Liway C. Manantan-Yparraguirre

ROSALES – The Tarlac-La Union Expressway (TLEX) project hit another snag due to the right of way problem in Tarlac, Sec. Hermogenes Esperon Jr. of the Presidential Management Staff (PMS), said.

Esperon said a meeting to thresh out problems was held on September 18 in Clark, Pampanga, to thresh-up everything. It was attended by the mayors from the concerned towns in Tarlac, heads of the local Register of Deeds and other officials concerned with the right-of-way problem.

“As soon as we get the right-of-way settled in the Tarlac to Gerona stretch, which is actually 70 percent done, we will start the construction. There is not much problem here in Pangasinan because what we did, learning from the negotiations in Tarlac, is by expropriation,” Esperon said.

SM City showcases farmers’ produce

By Virgilio Sar. Maganes

ROSALES – Fruits and vegetables are ornately and freshly displayed in one of the corridors of SM City here on September 12 as part of the company’s marketing support to the farmers who graduated under the “ Kabalikat ng Kabuhayan” – a training initiated by SM Foundation in coordination with Harbest Agribusiness Corp.

It will be recalled that in 2008, SM Foundation conducted series of farmers’ trainings to make farmers in the province aware and abreast of the latest technologies in fruits and vegetables production.

Harbest, a private agricultural firm known for propagating and marketing organic fruits and vegetables, was tapped as partner in those trainings.

Daily medical missions launched in the Pangasinan’s 4th district

PhotobucketInstead of having the patients go to hospitals, Rep. Joe and Gina de Venecia are bringing the hospitals to the barangay folks through their daily medical and dental missions that started last Sept. 17.

Using their three mobile clinics, the District Office of Rep. De Venecia is conducting a district-wide medical and dental mission, daily, to assure that the residents of the fourth district enjoy the best health care.

The medical mission started last Monday in Barangay David, Mangaldan, which benefited 700 medical and dental patients. This was followed by equally successful medical clinics in Barangay Banaoang (520 patients), Bantayan (594 patients), Anolid (901) patients) and Salay (668 patients).
