Pesticide dealers updated on crop protection chemicals

STA. BARBARA — Some 120 members of the Fertilizer and Pesticide Dealers Association of Pangasinan attended the refresher course on “Safe and Judicious Use of Crop Protection Chemicals and Pest Identification” held at the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) at Tebag village here on September 10.

The seminar was sponsored by the Crop Protection Association of the Philippines, Inc. in coordination with the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) of Region I.

The updates on crop protection dwelt on four modules.

Presidential Decree 1144, which was discussed by Regional Director George Bilango of Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority, dealt with the provisions of the decree regarding the powers of the FPA and the various processes in using fertilizers and pesticides.

San Carlos now owns college, Ayoy says

SAN CARLOS CITY – “Some skeptics here thought this city owning a college is sheer speculation. They thought it is only good in the drawing board,” declared by this city’s Mayor Julier Resuello during the oath taking ceremony recently of the newly-elected officers of the Binalatongan Community College .

But he said he had the last laugh when ownership of the said college was successfully transferred from Engineer Marcelo Casillan to this city in 2006.

Casillan was the partner of the late former Mayor Julian Resuello in the college.

‘Bobom’ spearheads citywide backyard gardening

URDANETA CITY – “Itaguyod at suportahan natin ang gulayan sa ating bakuran at barangay. Panglaban natin sa kahirapan at kagutuman.”

This statement written on a tarpaulin and hanging in front of the Barangay Halls all over the city manifests the concern of City Councilor Amadeo “Bobom” Perez IV on food security and to alleviate the lives of the city constituents.

In a farmers’ meeting held in Mabanogbog village on September 8, Perez, chair of the agriculture committee of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, reiterated his call to the people to use their vacant lots for the planting vegetables.
