LINGAYEN — Mayor Ernesto Castaňeda said Lingayen Central School – located along a busy highway — will be transferred to a 5,000 sq-meter lot at the back of the Lingayen Fire Station and beside the community hospital here.

Castañeda said the Department of Education has already given P10 million for the project that has estimated construction cost of P20 million. As counterpart, the municipal government donated the lot plus the cost of land filling. The provincial government has also extended assistance for the said project.

A total of 35 classrooms will be constructed at the new school site. .

“The parents, students, and the school officials are very happy with this development. The present central school is located on a 3,000 square meter lot. The buildings are already old and dilapidated and the area is flooded when it rains. Aside from the noise pollution, there is great danger of vehicular accident to the students. It is about time that our youngsters studying at the said school will have better classrooms and facilities,” the mayor remarked.

Castaňeda said the local officials and other sectors will still decide on what to do with the lot (which is also owned by the municipal government) to be vacated by the central school.

Meanwhile, the 33 multicabs procured by the municipal government through the loan they secured from the Land Bank will soon arrive.

All the 32 barangays will be issued one unit while one will be issued to the Lingayen Police Station. (Liway C. Manantan- Yparraguirre)
