BINALONAN- A municipal councilor here is set to challenge the political reign of the Guicos in the 2010 local polls.

Councilor Francis Melville V. Tinio, a lawyer, told this paper that he was presenting himself to his townmates as an alternative candidate for municipal mayor and face incumbent Vice Mayor Ramon Guico III who is groomed to take over the town’s reign from his father.

Mayor Ramon Guico, Jr. is already on his last term and will be fielding his son to replace him.

“It’s about time to have new leadership in the town. For many years, our people are deprived of progress. The town’s growth and development have been stagnant for years. In fairness to the Guicos, they have also introduced developments but (these are) not felt by most of the people especially in the barangays,” he said.

The political reign of the Guicos started from the late Mayor Ramon Guico Sr., followed by his son – the incumbent mayor. The reign was only broken by one term when lawyer Isaias Asuncion took over the mayorship.

For the town’s growth, the young councilor said that all sectors in the town should participate in development undertaking. “There should be a trigger mechanism for the sectors to move for progress. And this is anchored on what the vision of the municipality is for the townspeople,” Tinio said.

He further said that if ever he will succeed in his bid for mayoralty, his programs are anchored on “For Massive and Vigorous Transformation (FMVT),” the acronym of his name which will be focused of the town’s transformation not only in physical infrastructures and agriculture but more on social concerns for human development.

“I am offering a genuine public service to my beloved townmates. My kind of leadership will be more of a consultative or participatory process. I want all sectors tobe involved,” he said adding that “the vigorous transformation of the town should be fast tracked such that it will be felt by the people.”

A brilliant lawyer and outstanding legislator, Tinio’s entry to the political ring was backed by the townspeople because of his leadership and dynamism. He is a graduate of Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sto . Tomas (UST) and Bachelor of Parliamentary Laws at the Ateneo de Manila University. He is now a candidate for Masters of Law at the San Beda College.

I guess being a politician has got nothing to do with how high one’s educational attainment is. But it is on how humane one’s heart is.
Being a politician is basically being a public servant.Being a leader by doing and not by talking.

I have seen alot of politicians who talks too much and brag about their degree, MA & PhD and yet they are the most stupid people on earth when it comes to social justice and public service.

They want to run an office which they dont fully understand the purpose of .

It’s time for Philippine Politics to change.

Everybody knows that not all of our people have reached the level of education wherein they could be tactful enough to speak their mind through their votes.

Sometimes they are not lucky enough to vote with freedom as their hands are tied in chains of pressure and fear.

What we need in Philippines are politicians who models the CHANGE and present themselves as crystal as water their vision and the projects which are ready for implementation and not mere drawings on the river thing.

We need intelligent people and not the ones who pretend that they are intelligent, to rule and govern our beautiful country with God fearing people.

We need leaders who dont worship money. Life is short and everything is meaningless so it’s better to invest towards having a good reputation as a politician rather than tainting ones name for centuries just for the sake of money.

I believe in Vice Mayor Guico’s vision. He is a man who can plan and put them to reality.
His ideas are of global perspective. He has great dreams for the youth who are considered the hope of the future and Vice Mayor Guico is determined to arm them with knowledge which is the most powerful weapon which ever existed.
I believe in his ideals and my support goes to Vice Mayor Guico, he would make an excellent Mayor of Binalonan.

    More power Sir Mon2.
