Puno at the capitol

Airport investors approve proposed site

STA. BARBARA – Mayor Reynaldo Velasco is optimistic that the town will host the regional airport following the approval of prospective investors of the site.

Reresentatives from PLC Holdings International (PVT) Ltd were accompanied by Velasco, vsitedo the proposed site for the airport after a breakfast meeting with Gov. Amado Espino.

The PLC Holdings International members who visited the province were Ralph Doughty, managing director for Asia based in Sri Lanka , Anthony “Tony” Reyes, managing director for Manila based in Makati City and Hercules Lee Castillo, managing director for Cebu based in Dallas, Texas .

The show must go on

susan2Depression kills. It is a serious illness that should not be ignored. Naniwala lamang ako na ganito kaseryoso ang sakit na ito ng naging biktima ang isang kaibigan. For no apparent reason, she chose to end her life.

We were shocked when we heard the news that she commited suicide.

We can’t believe it. She had almost everything. She belonged to a well-off family, she had good and disciplined children, she had the money, owned a big house and cars and most importantly, she had many friends, some of whom are true friends. She was an active Kiwanian officer who enjoyed every projects and activities of the club. She attended all conventions abroad, an opportunity that not all Kiwanians can avail of. Ano pa ang hahanapin niya?

Two informants receive cash reward from PNP

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — Two civilians who provided information that led to the arrest of two Most Wanted Persons (MWP) each received P90,000 reward money in simple rites here on August 12.

Chief Supt. Ramon V. Gatan, PRO1 Regional Director, personally handed over the reward money to the informants, identified only as “ Denton ” and “Temyong,” and thanked them for their display of courage and civic duty in informing the police on the whereabouts of the fugitives.

Denton gave information about Marlou A. Alcantara alias Mario, 35, single and a resident of Barangay Sta. Lucia, Aringay, La Union who was arrested last March 25 by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Executive Judge Clifton U. Ganay of the Regional Trial Court Branch 31 in Agoo, La Union, for the crime of Rape docketed under CC# A-5483.
