IBA ITO! launched in Pangasinan

STA. BARABARA — The IBA ITO! KASALI KA Movement was launched here by student leaders from different universities and colleges in Pangasinan.

The IBA ITO! is a movement of ordinary people who are asserting the people’s historical role of molding the future of the country.

“Ang IBA ITO! ay naniniwalang ang mamamayang Pilipino ay dapat nakikibahagi, nakikiisa, naniniwala at nagtitiwala sa kakayahan, galing at talino ng kapwa Pilipino na maiangat ang antas ng buhay sa ating bansang Pilipinas,” IBA ITO! Convenor Girlie Amarillo described the movement.

Espino creates task force for culture and arts

LINGAYEN — Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. created a technical working group (TWG) called “Dangoan Pangasinan” to plan, create, and carry out a program on Pangasinan culture and arts.

Under Executive Order No. 0073-2009, otherwise known as Pangasinan Culture and Arts Group, the TWG is tasked to do the following: formulate and implement programs on Pangasinan culture and arts; coordinate with other agencies concerning cultural and artistic performances and art exhibits; and create a working plan for the management and administration of the Sison Auditorium.

This initiative aims to relive, promote and preserve the distinctiveness of Pangasinan culture through music and arts, crafts, dance and drama which are uniquely Pangasinan.

Alcala hosts nutrition month celebration

ALCALA — A total of 18 clustered secondary schools from Alcala, Bautista, Sto. Tomas and Villasis participated in the celebration of the nutrition month at Cipriano P. Primicias National High School here last July 31.

With the theme “Wastong Nutrisyon Kailangan, Lifestyle Diseases Iwasan,” contests on oration, poster making, slogan making, nutri-jingle, cooking and nutri-quiz were conducted. Students and their teacher-coaches from the participating schools showed their talents and skills in the said contests.

Dr. Domingo P. Laud, principal of the host school, welcomed the delegates, guests and board of judges saying that it was an honor for their school to host the nutrition month celebration and congratulated the managing committee for coming up with the various activities.

Cops rescue missing sick grandpa

STA. BARBARA — Caring for the elderly can be challenging and difficult especially if they suffer from Alzheimer disease. Such a case is Gregorio Fider, 82, widower and a resident of 21 Jasmin St. Asin Road, Baguio City.

According to Renato Fider, his father Gregorio unmindfully left their residence at Baguio City in the morning of August 1. He was seen by neighbors riding a Victory Bus going to Dagupan City . After that, he was nowhere to befound, prompting the family to report the incident to the police.

On the morning of August 2, policemen of Sta. Barbara Police Station led by Inspector Isaias Dominquez, while conducting mobile police visibility in barangay Maningding this town, spotted an unidentified male person lying on the shoulder of the road. The person was wearing cream sweater, V-neck t-shirt, dark blue pants and black shoes.
