Feeds dealers complain of harassment from military

ROSALES- What’s the military personnel doing during meat inspection activities of the Bureau of Animal Industry?

The Association of Feeds and Veterinary Products Distributors, Dealers and Outlets in Pangasinan (AFVPDDOP) complained to the Abono Party List about the presence of military personnel in the inspections being conducted by an inspection team from the BAI.

The feed dealers said they felt threatened by the presence of the the military escorts in an activity of the BAI that is supposed to conduct a simple inspection of feeds being sold in the market.

Two NPA members surrender

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO — The government’s campaign against insurgency achieved another breakthrough and further diminished the ranks of the New Peoples Army Ilocos-Cordillera Regional Committee (ICRC) after two of their ranking leaders surrendered to authorities in Ilocos Sur on July 20.

Chief Inspector Julius Suriben, chief of the PRO1 Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG), identified the NPA leaders as Samuel Compalas alias Dawing, 53, Team Leader of Party Group (PG) Polaris Team 2, Kilusang Larangang Gerilya (KLG) DE LARA of the ICRC; and Dominador Angdos, 47, Assistant Team Leader of PG Venus of the same committee.

The two voluntarily surrendered to joint elements of RSOG, Naval Intelligence and Security Group-Northern Luzon (NISG-NL), Candon City Police Station and Regional Mobile Group 1 at about 4:00 PM in Barangay San Juan, Candon City .

PRO1 fetes outstanding police

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO –Chief Supt. Ramon V Gatan, Ilocos regional police director, conferred last Mondayappropriate medals to three outstanding police officers of Region 1 who recently brought pride and honor to Police Regional Office 1.

Gatan awarded the “Medalya ng Kasanayan” to Supt. Eric E. Noble, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan town police chief, and to PO3 Arturo D. Melchor, Jr., investigator and human rights affairs officerof Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO). The two were among the ten winners in this year’s Metrobank Foundation search for the Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS).

Gatan likewise pinned the “Medalya ng Katangi-Tanging Asal” to SPO4 Virgilio D. Cardinoza of San Carlos City police after he was cited twice as “Most Outstanding Policeman” in San Carlos City and for having been adjudged “Most Outstanding Farmer of the Year 2007-2008” in the said city.
