STA. BARBARA- Three school rooms donated by generals of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were officially turned-over to the barangay and school officials led by Punong Barangay Jovito Penuliar and Head Teacher Eva Paeste of Erfe village (Daroy Elementary School) here on June 23, 2009.

The turn over and inauguration was led by Mayor Reynaldo V. Velasco together with PNP Region I Director Chief Supt. Ramon V. Gatan, a donor of a school room and who represented the two other donors –Chief Supt. Mario T. San Diego of PNP Region 8 and Chief Supt.Danny Emperad of PNP Region 10 who were not able to attend due to pressing work.

Velasco lauded the gestures of the police officers for their kind-hearted support in donating the classrooms to the impoverished barangay.

“The donations of these classrooms started with a joke. When we inaugurated the two classrooms here, I told General Gatan who was still the Deputy Director of Region I to donate a classroom and he volunteered to do so. He was in charge in coordinating with his two other mistahs of Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Class 1977 and the projects are now a reality,” Velasco said.

He told the audience that education is one of his priorities under his 10-point development agenda saying that school buildings are a part of providing a place conducive for learning by the school pupils.

“We have provided you with a a school rooms conducive for a learning atmosphere. Now it’s your turn to teach the children for them to be productive citizens of the municipality,” he told the school teachers.

Gatan, who was with his wife Henedina, was equally impressed with the construction of the school rooms. He said that the donations were not put to naught as the rooms are very well constructed.

“The promise has become a reality. It is an honor to help for the people’s welfare,” he told the audience.

He lauded also the efforts of Mayor Velasco in developing his town and for outsourcing funds to complete his projects.

Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Percival Barba, town’s Chief of Police Eric Noble,District Supervisor Lilia Anteneo and Pangasinan I Assistant Schools Supt. Sheila Marie Sison were also present during the turn over ceremony.
