Abono’s mural competition

SY filesIn that ABONO sponsored mural contest held in Rosales, I was so hesitant to interview the participants since some were not yet finished with their paintings. I am very cautious because of what I know ang mga artists ay parang may sariling mundo. But a go signal was given by Patrick, the president of the Dagupan Artist Circle, so Yoly and I went on.

I knew of some artists or artists-kuno who hates being disturbed while painting, syempre naderal met so concentration da. Kaya nga ‘yong ibang artist nagti-take cover sa kanilang shops and others hide away from people, manha-hibernate ira so they can perfectly complete their painting based on their imaginations if not copycat.

Without hesitation, the participants when approach paused for short interviews, akala siguro nila members kami ng board of judges that’s why they willingly articulated or expressed what their work of art is all about.

The theme of the mural contest is ‘a tribute to Pangasinan Farmers’.Iba-iba ang illustrations ng bawat kalahok, Iba-iba rin ang kanilang approach at pananaw sa mundo ng agrikultura.

Kirol Okubo from baguio of group 17 said, he thinks it’s their obligation and responsibility to let people know that development should start with the farmers.

No wonder, the group kasi is compose of 15-year old students from Dagupan City National High School.

Generally, in the eyes of non-artists like me, all the paintings are great and impressive.

One artist said the imagination of a true artist depends on his environment.
